The Prison Secret – John the Baptist's Question
John the Baptist had been shut up in prison by Herod (Luke 3:19-20). When John's disciples told him about the things Jesus was doing, John called two of them and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” Instead of simply saying “Yes,” Jesus answered, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard.” In this game, children become John's disciple, carry the question to Jesus and gather six pieces of evidence to piece together His answer.
How to play
- Prologue · Hear John in the prison, then tap the scroll to unroll it and read his question.
- Chapter 1 · Explore the village, talk with people and look for hidden clues. Once you have four or more clues, you can work out where Jesus is.
- Chapter 2 · Choose six cases and solve short mini-games to collect evidence cards: find things in a blurry world, link the path home, spot what changed, name a first sound, put the story at Nain in order and call people sitting far away.
- Chapter 3 · Back at the prison, place the evidence cards in the order Jesus said them, fit the last piece of His words and make the detective's final deduction.
- Epilogue · Hear what Jesus said about John, then choose the answer closest to your heart for three questions about faith. These questions have no single right answer; they are a time to think.
- Mistakes never end the game, and the better you search, the higher your score and stars. Scenes with text wait until you have read them and choose to go on.
Bible background
In Luke 7:18-19, John called two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are You the Coming One?” Verse 21 says that in that very hour Jesus cured many people of their sicknesses and troubles and gave sight to many who were blind. In verse 22 Jesus told them to report to John that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have the gospel preached to them, and in verse 23 He said, “Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” After John's messengers left, Jesus told the crowd that John was more than a prophet, and that among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John (verses 24-28).
The Bible does not explain in detail why John asked this question. The scroll, the conversations with villagers and the mini-games in the game are there to help children follow the story, and details the Bible does not give, such as the layout of the prison or a cell number, are left out.
